London: Doner kebabs are the most unhealthy fast food six times more fattening than a Big Mac and fries, a study has revealed.

One kebab contains 5.8gm of trans fats, equal to an adult's daily allowance of the fat linked to obesity, heart disease and diabetes.

In comparison, a Burger King Whopper meal contains 2gm of the fat, while a Big Mac meal contains 0.27gm.

Tom Sanders, Professor of Nutrition at King's College, London, who did the tests, said: "A kebab is a very fatty meal. You get about 6gm of trans fats so that is potentially very bad."

A trans fatty acid (commonly shortened to trans fat) is an unsaturated fatty acid whose molecules contain trans double bonds between carbon atoms. Research suggests a correlation between diets high in trans fats and diseases like coronary heart disease.
