Washington: The United States is deeply concerned by Tunisian President Kais Saied’s move to dissolve the country’s Supreme Judicial Council and the reported barring of employees from entering the institution, State Department spokesperson Ned Price said on Monday.

Saied on Sunday announced he was dissolving the Supreme Judicial Council, but on Monday pledged not to interfere in the judiciary, according to a Facebook post from his office.

In a regular press briefing in Washington, Price reiterated a US call for an accelerated political reform process that responds to the aspirations of the Tunisian people.
