Residents sprang into action before the arrival of emergency crews
Dubai: Residents in Baghdad’s Al Zuhour complex rescued three children Tuesday from a raging apartment fire that reportedly started due to an electrical short circuit.
Neighbours sprang into action before emergency crews arrived, using blankets to catch children who were forced to jump from a third-floor apartment to escape the flames. Their quick thinking prevented serious injuries and helped contain the immediate danger.
Social media footage captured the dramatic rescue, showing terrified residents catching children amid dense smoke and intense flames. The videos highlighted both the peril of the fire and the courage of the community.
In a statement, the Iraqi Civil Defence Directorate said firefighting and ambulance teams arrived promptly and brought the blaze under control. No casualties were reported, and the directorate praised the residents’ bravery in saving the children before the arrival of emergency crews.
