Jenin: Police have dismantled a network of smugglers and seized archeological items together with machines and tools used in the digging.

Tourist and archeological officials, with the help of the police, seized 29 rare pieces from a house in Al Yamoun in the Jenin Governorate.

Acting on a tip-off, they raided one suspect's home and seized the items. During their search, officers also recovered machines and tools which the smugglers used in recovering the precious items from mountainous areas.

After preliminary investigations, it was revealed that the network was involved in the illegal trade of antique pieces.

The case will be referred to the Public Prosecution which will carry out further investigations and press charges against the suspects.

The seized items will be handed over to the archeological department.
