Feuding Iraqi opponents united by Gaza onslaught

Baghdad: Iraqis feel closer to one another, overcoming deep sectarian sentiment in the face of Israeli aggression in Gaza.

"Sunni and Shi'ite neighbourhoods are united in demonstrations with the people of Gaza," Hatem Ali, an employee of the Ministry of Transport said.

The Mehdi Army loyal to Shi'ite leader Moqtada Al Sadr issued a joint statement with rival Sunni militias backing the resistance in Gaza.

Ali said many Iraqis - still fresh from the gruesome period of violence they faced recently - sympathised with the suffering of Gaza residents.

I can only pray for them. I hope Palestine will get support and help.
