Victim survived the attack, was rushed to a hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery

Dubai: A dispute over the price of a pack of cigarettes in Damietta Governorate, northern Egypt, escalated into a violent altercation on Friday afternoon, ending in a brutal stabbing in broad daylight, just days before the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The incident began when a microbus driver attempted to purchase a pack of cigarettes from a vendor at a local bus station. What started as a simple transaction quickly spiraled into a heated argument over the price—reportedly over an extra five Egyptian pounds (roughly Dh0.37)—leading to a physical confrontation.
According to local media reports, one of the men involved in the quarrel suddenly pulled a knife and stabbed the other, delivering a deep wound that extended from the lower abdomen to the chest, leaving the victim bleeding heavily on the ground as bystanders watched in shock.
Miraculously, the victim survived the attack and was rushed to a hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. As of now, his condition is unclear, and no official statement has been released regarding the severity of his injuries.
Local authorities in Damietta have arrested the suspect and placed him in custody pending further investigation by the public prosecution.
