Dubai: The US Department of the Treasury's Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, David S. Cohen, visited the UAE as part of a three-country trip focused on continuing the Treasury's engagement on the effective implementation of international sanctions against the Iranian and Syrian regimes.
In series of productive meetings with officials in the UAE, Cohen discussed the importance of implementing international sanctions against the Iranian regime for its continued pursuit of a nuclear weapons programme as well as increasing pressure on the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al Assad for its continued campaign of violence against the Syrian people.
He also stressed the importance of the UAE's financial sector remaining vigilant to attempts by the Iranian regime to evade international sanctions and discussed with his counterparts the UAE's efforts to fight terrorism.
