Many of the Palestinian women stay veiled at all times because of male prison guards
Ramallah: A request by Palestinian women in Israeli prisons to have female wardens has been flatly ignored by Israeli authorities. Currently, most of the daily prisoner counts and other procedures are done by men which is very uncomfortable for the women who do not want to be touched by strange men.
More than 20 Palesitnian women are currently in Israeli prison and several others have been in detention for questioning.
Many of the prisoners have to stay veiled at all times in according with their religious beliefs as Muslim women who do not show their hair to men who are not related to them.
