Israel and Iran trade fire for fifth day, raising fears of a wider regional conflict

Israel and Iran exchanged fire for a fifth consecutive day on Tuesday, intensifying tensions in the Middle East and raising concerns about the possibility of a wider regional conflict. The ongoing military skirmishes, which have already seen airstrikes, missile exchanges, and artillery fire, are heightening fears that the conflict could spiral into a broader war that could pull in other nations from the oil-rich region.
Earlier, the Israeli military had called for some 330,000 residents of a neighbourhood in the city centre to evacuate. Tehran is one of the largest cities in the Middle East, with a population of around 10 million, roughly equivalent to the entire population of Israel. People have been fleeing since the hostilities began.
