Cairo: An explosion rocked Yemen’s port city amid conflicting reports about the surrounding circumstances, local media reported.
The bomb explosion occurred Thursday night in the district of Al Mansoura near a vegetable market, sending a plume of smoke, residents said.
The blast damaged several cars in the area and destroyed a wall, but caused no casualties, news website Adan Al Ghad said, quoting an eyewitness.
“People passing near the explosion survived it,” the witness said.
Social media reports claimed that the blast was due to a personal dispute.
However, a security source said it is too early to confirm this allegation, according to Adan Al Ghad.
Local residents panicked after the blast. It came more than a week after a huge explosion hit the Adan airport killing 25 people and injuring over 100 others.
The December 30 blast occurred as a plane carrying members of the newly formed government landed at the airport from Saudi Arabia. The Yemeni government has accused Iran-aligned Al Houthi rebels of standing behind the attack.
