The incident took place two days ago near the National Guard Hospital
Dubai: A Saudi nurse has been hailed as a hero after saving the life of a middle-aged man who was struck by a car in the capital, Riyadh, performing CPR before paramedics arrived.
The incident took place two days ago near the National Guard Hospital. Nurse Tahani Al Anzi said she was on her way to a café with her family when she saw the victim lying motionless in the middle of the street after being hit by a vehicle.
“My family’s car stopped in the middle of the road, and my brother and I ran toward him,” Al Anzi said. “I found that he had no breathing.” She quickly moved the man to the roadside, stabilized his head and neck, and began chest compressions.
Al Anzi said the man briefly regained a pulse before losing it again, prompting her to resume resuscitation until Red Crescent paramedics arrived and took over, transporting the patient to the hospital.
She noted that he had suffered a head injury and emphasized that this was not her first time intervening in emergencies outside of the hospital.
“I have the ability to step in during such situations, and I consider it a humanitarian duty for any health professional to save a life whenever and wherever possible,” she said.
A video of the rescue circulated widely on social media under the hashtag #NurseTahaniAlAnzi, attracting praise for her quick response and professionalism.
