Abu Dhabi: A Saudi motorist, driving a stolen car, was arrested after he pointed a gun at officers while trying to flee the crime scene in Riyadh, police said.
“A police patrol vehicle began chasing the suspicious driver, as he weaved through traffic, cut through parking lots and drove on the wrong side of the road at one point,” Major Khaled Al Kreidis, spokesperson of the Riyadh Police said.
Major Al Kreidis added the driver, in his 40s, then got out of the car,pointed a gun at the officers, then fired shots in the air and trying to get away by taking another vehicle from its driver at gunpoint.
The man was caught after the police patrols swarmed the area.
The police seized in his possession 3,568 tablets of amphetamine, 1,500 grams of hashish, a pistol and a number of live rounds, police said.
The man was taken into custody and all legal measures were taken to refer him to the public prosecution for further questioning and trial, police added.
