Qatar to open dedicated lab to test safety of toys

Doha: Qatar will soon open a lab dedicated solely for testing the safety of children’s toys, reported Qatar News Agency (QNA). The lab is the fist sin the country which has the most advanced equipped for testing the quality of toys said Dr Mohammad Saif Al Kuwari, a senior official with the Ministry of Environment.

The focus of the lab will be on toys that contain chemicals such as mercury and lead among other components. The lab will look into whether toys imported in the country follow the required safety procedures. Dr Al Kuwari added that it has taken a year to set up the lab and technicians are currently undergoing training, reported QNA
