MUSCAT: Oman’s meteorological department (MET Oman) has issued alert of scattered rain in various parts of Oman, specifically, areas near Hajar mountain ranges and Dhofar coast.

Extensive activity of cumulus clouds along the Al Hajar Mountains, scattered rain, thunderstorms at times, accompanied by active downward winds, hail and condensation of low clouds over parts of the coasts and mountains of Dhofar Governorate have been forecast.

Social Media accounts like weatherOmaniya that are prompt in reporting the weather events across Oman, have already posted news of rains in Buraimi and Rustaq.

Thunder clouds on the western Al Hajar mountain range with heavy rain, hail and active downward winds accompanied by the heavy wadi flow will be experienced from today evening.

Oman has been experiencing scattered rains for the last couple of weeks in various places including Ibri and towns and villages around Jabal Shams and Jabal Akhdhar areas. While the rest of the Oman reels under severe summer in the scorching months of June, July and August, the southern Dhofar region and the mountainous Jabal regions experience a much cooler climate.
