Oman, Russia sign visa waiver agreement during Sultan's visit to Moscow

Citizens to stay visa-free for up to 30 days per visit, and no more than 90 days per year

Dubai: In a major step towards strengthening bilateral ties, Oman and Russia on Tuesday signed a mutual visa exemption agreement for ordinary passport holders during the visit of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to Moscow.

The visa waiver, one of ten key agreements signed during the visit, will allow citizens of both countries to stay visa-free for up to 30 days per visit, and no more than 90 days per year.

The visit coincided with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, established on September 26, 1985.

Sultan Haitham met Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss trade, investment, cultural exchange, and regional and international issues, highlighting Oman’s growing diplomatic influence.

Putin discussed the Iran nuclear talks with Sultan, Russian state media reported citing the Kremlin.

Putin aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed in a briefing that the topic had been discussed, with Oman playing the role of mediator between Washington and Tehran in the ongoing rounds of talks.
