Cairo: Oman Thursday confirmed 74 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing to 2,348 the country's overall infections, including 10 deaths.

The newly diagnosed cases are 39 Omanis and 35 foreigners, the Health Ministry said without giving a breakdown of the foreign patients' nationalities.

The overall recoveries in the sultanate have reached 495 cases, the ministry said, according to Oman's news agency ONA.

Earlier this week, Oman eased some restrictions imposed to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Authorities ended control checkpoints earlier set up to restrict movement among Oman's provinces. Some businesses were also allowed to reopen.
