Prosecutors argued that posts violated public decency laws, at odds with societal values
Dubai: A Kuwaiti fashion influencer, identified as ZA, has been sentenced to one year in prison in Bahrain and fined BD200 after being convicted of sharing indecent videos on social media, the Public Prosecution announced.
The verdict, delivered in person by the Minor Criminal Court, also includes the confiscation of the influencer’s mobile phones and a permanent deportation order to be enforced upon completion of her prison term.
The case came to light following a report filed by the Cybercrime Directorate at the Ministry of Interior, which flagged a public social media account displaying videos of the influencer in what authorities described as “suggestive and inappropriate” poses.
Prosecutors argued that the posts violated public decency laws and were at odds with Kuwait’s cultural and societal values.
A warrant was issued for the influencer’s arrest. Upon being detained, she reportedly admitted to owning and publishing the footage. Her phone was seized as part of the investigation, and she remained in custody until the court reached its final decision.
