Dubai: UAE citizens in Kuwait have been advised to take precautions amid extreme weather conditions that have hit the Gulf state in days.

The UAE Embassy issued an advisory on Wednesday, urging Emiratis in Kuwait to follow safety instructions issued by relevant authorities.

Work in some companies in the country, as well as in all government institutions, has been suspended following heavy rains and floods. Kuwait Petroleum Corporation also confirmed that all its companies are giving its employees a day off on Wednesday.

The country’s weather bureau has confirmed that today’s weather in Kuwait is still unstable, with winds likely to reach more than 50 kilometres per hour.

Forecasters said that some areas will experience moderate to heavy rains, and with fresh southeasterly winds packing speeds up to 60 kilometres per hour, visibility on roads will drop to below 1,000 metres.

Seawaters will also be rough and waves are expected to reach up to seven feet high. (With reports from Reuters)
