Dubai: Kuwait’s Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources has issued a decision lifting the ban on importing all types of live birds, hatchery eggs and chicks from Chile, Australia, and the Dominican Republic as these countries are free from bird flu, local media reported.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Authority said all consignments are subject to the conditions and controls issued by the Animal Health Department of the Authority following the procedures of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The agricultural authority added that consignments affected by any of the epidemic and infectious diseases will be rejected, after testing samples at the authority’s laboratory.

If the shipment is found to be infected, the importer would be tasked with returning the affected birds and animals to the destination from which they arrived at their own expense.
