Manama: India's External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna yesterday expressed his country's readiness to provide "all its capabilities to ensure the security and stability of Bahrain."

Reviewing bilateral relations with Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmad Al Khalifa, his visiting Bahraini counterpart, Krishna said India believes in the importance of maintaining security and stability in the region and conveyed gratitude and appreciation for the attention received by the Indian community living in Bahrain.

Shaikh Khalid has embarked on a tour of Asian countries to reinforce relations and to reassure them of Bahrain's commitment to the safety and wellbeing of their communities.

"We are on the right track. We are together facing common threats of terror, threats of unrest and threats of destabilising the lives of our people," Shaikh Khalid was quoted as saying by the Indian media.

Taking turns

"When I visited the Indian community in Bahrain, I talked to them, I listened to them and I reassured them.

"I told them that they served our country and its development and that it was our turn to serve them," IBN reported him as saying yesterday.
