Dubai: The Bahraini Minister of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning Esam Abdullah Khalaf has issued an edict to reduce and exempt fees for 234 Bahraini families living in rentals in June 2020, Bahrain News Agency reported.
The decision comes following the directives of Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, to reduce the burden of living conditions on citizens, and within the framework of the Cabinet’s decision to equate the fees of renting citizens with home owners.
Last month, the Bahraini government said it will pay 50 per cent of salaries of private sector employees working for companies hardest hit by the coronavirus.
The government had previously revealed it was spending $570 million in paying the salaries of all 100,000 of its citizens working in the private sector from April to June, to ease the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The government has also announced that it would pay the utility bills for individuals and companies for three months starting in April and set a financial package of $11.39 billion (4.3 billion Bahraini dinar) to combat the fallout from the coronavirus outbreak.
