Keep track of your kids with GPS jacket
London: Parents may worry less about losing their child with a new piece of winter wear that includes a global positioning tracker.
The jackets, released by British clothing company Bladerunner, have a global positioning system (GPS) device in the lining.
The device can track the jacket worldwide. "The jacket was originally made for mountain climbers, skiers and snowboarders," said Adrian Davis, a partner at Bladerunner.
He said the company decided to make a children's version aimed at parents concerned about their child safety.
Using Google Earth, users can watch the jacket-wearer move and receive e-mail or SMS alerts when the jacket leaves a pre-set boundary: meaning parents could find out if their children skip school or go to a boyfriend's house - so long as they are wearing the jacket.
