London: Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Dave Lee Travis will face a retrial over allegations he sexually assaulted two women.

Earlier this month Travis was cleared of 12 counts of indecent assault dating back to the mid-1970s, but jurors could not reach verdicts on a further count of indecent assault and one of sexual assault.

Miranda Moore QC, for the Crown, told Southwark crown court in London on Monday morning that prosecutors would be seeking a retrial over the two counts.

Wearing a purple and black shirt and a black suit, Travis sat slumped against the wall of the dock as the decision was announced.

The 68-year-old former DJ was supported in court by his wife, Marianne, and two former PAs.

Moore said: “I can tell the court the prosecution will be seeking a retrial over the two remaining counts.”

The court heard that the retrial, scheduled before Judge Anthony Leonard, is expected to last two weeks.

Travis was released on police bail to return to the court for a pretrial hearing on 28 March.
