Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court has ordered three individuals to jointly pay Dh70,000 to a claimant, in addition to Dh30,000 in damages for the material and moral harm caused by their unlawful seizure of funds.

According to court documents, the case began when the victim filed a criminal complaint accusing the three defendants of illegally appropriating Dh70,000 belonging to him.

Following the initial investigation and trial, one of the defendants was convicted and sentenced to two months in prison, and ordered to pay court fees.

However, the Public Prosecution later appealed the ruling, seeking a more stringent judgment. The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court overturned the earlier verdict, re-convicted the defendant, and imposed a fine of Dh5,000, along with court fees.

The appeal ruling confirmed that the defendants had obtained the money—as specified in police reports and court proceedings—without legal justification and to the detriment of the plaintiff.
