A man in India died because he was saving his mother from a mob attack.

A police case has been registered after the 30-year-old Indian man was killed by five men as he tried to save his mother who was being beaten by them.

The incident occured in Amritsar, Punjab, on November 22. The victim was identified as Manga Singh, according to an international website.

It has been said that the attack was over an old dispute, one of the attackers believed that Manga’s brother had been having an affair with his wife.

The accused and the victim are family memebers. The suspects were identified as Sukhdev Singh and his sons Sukhwinder Singh, alias Sonu and Vijay. Mukhtiyar Singh and his son Polish were also accused.

Aman, the victim’s wife, explained what had happened: “At around 9:30 am on Friday when my mother-in-law Sarabjit Kaur went outside the house, the accused started thrashing her over some old family dispute.

“As soon as my husband rushed to save his mother, Sukhwinder attacked him on the head with a dagger while others started beating him up,” she was quoted as saying.

“When we raised an alarm, the accused flew from the spot. My husband received injuries on his head. We rushed to a local hospital where doctors referred him to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital (GNDH), Amritsar.”

Manga later died of his injuries. A case was not registered until November 24, as the family had not filed a complaint.

Police officers have said that Manga was attacked with a dagger when he tried to save his mother who was being beaten by the accused.

The five suspects remain on the run, however, local police said that raids are being conducted to catch the accused.

A case has been registered against five perpetrators.
