Sister Marizele wins hearts online with her unexpected and joyful beatboxing performance
Two Brazilian nuns have become unexpected internet sensations after delivering an impromptu beatbox and dance routine during a live Catholic TV broadcast. Sisters Marizele Cassiano and Marisa de Paula, members of the Copiosa Redenção congregation, appeared on Pai Eterno (Eternal Father) TV to speak about an upcoming vocational retreat. But when the topic of a song about religious calling came up, the sisters took the conversation in an unexpected—and joyful—direction.
They stood up and broke into an energetic performance, combining singing, beatboxing, and coordinated dance moves. The show’s presenter, Deacon Giovani Bastos, even joined in, mirroring Sister Marisa’s moves. The clip quickly went viral on social media, reaching millions in Brazil and worldwide.
“That moment was very spontaneous,” said Sister Marielle, who provided the beatboxing. “We use music as a way to reach hearts—especially young people.” The sisters are deeply involved in ministry with youth struggling with drug addiction and say creative expression helps break down barriers.
“Beatboxing, dancing—these are tools that God uses,” she added. Since the performance aired, Sister Marizele has gained over 100,000 followers online. Despite the sudden fame, the sisters remain focused on their mission: inspiring others and sharing their faith in fresh, relatable ways.
