Aquino wishes former girlfriend good luck

Manila: President Benigno Aquino has wished his former girlfriend good luck in her career as a television host, a palace statement said. She joined a TV host who supported the ruling party in the May 10 presidential polls.

"I hope this step will bring her closer to fulfilment where she [Shalani Soledad, councillor of northern suburban Valenzuela] will be truly happy," said Abigail Valte, reading Aquino's statement.

"I hope she can withstand showbiz intrigues," a radio report quoted Aquino as saying.

Soledad joined popular TV host Willie Revillame's game show entitled Willing Willie, at Channel 5, the first episode of which was aired last night.
