Islamabad: The famous Hyderabadi Biryani has won the hearts of thousands of Indians and Pakistanis in a surprising interaction in Islamabad.

A Pakistani man, Tahir Khan, who invited the Indian family over for dinner at his restaurant in Islamabad captured the hearts of social media viewers in Pakistan and India.

The heartwarming video showed the Indian family, two brothers and their daughters, having biryani and enjoying the company of their Pakistani host.

“I was going to my restaurant when I saw some people asking for a lift. I stopped the car and realized they were not locals. When I found out they are from neighbouring India, I invited them over for dinner,” Tahir Khan, a restaurant owner, shared on his social media account.

In a video shared online, the Indian, Jyoti Kumar, said he and his brother were in Pakistan with their daughters, Mandagalla Princy and Tanya, so that they could participate in a junior tennis championship being held in Islamabad. These two fathers “are an inspiration. They came all the way from India to support and encourage their daughters to play in a tennis tournament in Pakistan. This is amazing,” Khan said in his video.

The host is also seen joking, “Aap Virat Kohli humein de do, aap trophy lekar jayein (Give us Virat Kohli, you may take the trophy).” India and Pakistan are competing in the T20 World Cup tournament for the top prize and Kohli has put up a stunning show in the series.

He also wished the girls all the best for the championship.

The Indian family visiting Pakistan said they had wonderful experiences in the country famous for its hospitality.

Kumar said that he and his family had mixed feelings when they crossed the border. But “after we got here, we were surprised at the love and respect we received in Pakistan,” Kumar said with a smile on his face as he enjoyed Pakistani food. His daughter Princy, the tennis player, said: “We did not expect this much love and hospitality”. Asked about her visit, she said that “Pakistani food is delicious and Islamabad is a beautiful city.”

Tahir Khan said that when he learned that the Indian family was from Hyderabad in India, he decided to offer them the Hyderabadi biryani at his restaurant. The video showed Khan arriving with the family at Tahir Khan restaurant in the scenic Shakarparian Hills. The family was served fresh pomegranate juice. Hyderabadi Biryani and Kabuli Pulao were among some of the food served at dinner.

The video of a Pakistani man and an Indian family enjoying dinner together, laughing and chatting was widely shared and praised on social media.
