Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (N) senior leaders on Saturday said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) felt the resignation of the prime minister was out of question.

Talking to the media after Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with former president Asif Ali Zardari, Dederal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar said Zardari told Sharif that resignation of the prime minister would weaken the state of Pakistan.

Federal finance minister said that the six demands of protesting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have already been accepted by Nawaz government.

He said formation of judicial commission and committee for reforms in the election commission was the solution to all six demands of Imran Khan.

Dar said that Zardari has reiterated that PPP is committed to safeguard democracy in the country.

He said that the situation was unprecedented when all political parties join hands to save the Parliament and democracy in the country.

Dar said that the PPP leadership is committed that the current political crisis should be resolved within the limits of law and the constitution.

He said the government had shown extreme flexibility amid protests on Constitution Avenue and allowed protesters to enter the Red Zone without using force, to avoid violence.

The Finance minister said that the economy of the country is under stress amid protests in the capital with the stock markets sinking and the rupee sliding sharply.

He said the Sri Lankan and Maldives heads of state have cancelled their official visits to Pakistan, which is not a positive sign for the country.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, on occasion, said that during the meeting with Nawaz Sharif, Zardari has commented that extra constitutional demands could not be accepted.

Khawaja said that it was in Pakistan’s interest that protesting parties should show maturity to end deadlock.

Railways minister Khawja Saad Rafique said that PML-N and PPP had a bitter past but both parties were now mature enough to work together for strengthening the democracy in the country.

He said the PPP has pulled its weight in favour of democracy and for playing a positive role in current scenario.

Rafique said that talks were underway with PTI and Pakistan Awam Tehreek (PAT) and they were hopeful for a positive outcome.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Siraj-ul-Haq said all political parties came out to save the democratic system in the country, adding that both the protesting parties should be given an honourable exit route.

He was speaking to the media after holding talks with fi Zardai, who visited Mansoora to discuss the political crisis. During the meeting, both leaders stressed the need to find a solution to the prevailing political crisis in Pakistan.

Siraj-ul-Haq quoting President Zardari said that dialogue is only way to resolve the crisis. He said Islamabad doesn’t belong to Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri, it belongs to 182 million Pakistanis who are fed up with this daily drama.

He urged the media and the nation to pay attention to the plight of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who have suffered because of PTI and PAT sit-ins.

Sirajul Haq said that for the first time all the political parties were united for democracy beyond their personal and political interests.

He said that Zardari had set up a four-member PPP committee that would be in touch with the Jamaat. Haq said that nobody wanted any harm to democracy and the constitution, due to chaos and emotional political atmosphere.

He said that he had asked Imran Khan: “Don’t show haste and withdraw your resignations”.

The two parties mulled over the prevailing political impasse due to the sit-ins being held by PTI and PAT in Islamabad.
