Islamabad: Pakistan on Sunday reported its lowest single-day casualties, four, due to COVID-19 in more than three months with positivity rate dropping as low as 0.78 per cent.

According to the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC) on November 15 and 16 the single-day death toll had dropped to six, but on November 20 it further declined to four.

Pakistan’s COVID-19 toll now stands at 28,569.

After 40,019 tests conducted for COVID-19 in last 24 hours, 313 returned positive taking the number of confirmed cases to 1,281,872.

The active cases have also declined to 22,479 while there was no critical case reported in last 24 hours.

Pakistan administers more than 120m doses of COVID-19 vaccines

According to the Ministry of the National Health Services (MNHS) portal, 120,448,598 doses of vaccine have been administered since the vaccination drive began in the country in February this year.

As per details shared by MNHS website, 78,845,170 people have received at least one dose of vaccine and 49,010,906 others have become fully vaccinated.

The NCOC said in a tweet that due to ongoing national Measles Rubella (MR) campaign (Nov 15-27), COVID-19 vaccine administration for children between 12-15 years would remain suspended till Nov 27.

Islamabad’s positivity rate drops to 0.5%

The federal capital recording a declining curve of dengue virus is also showing tremendous progress against COVID-19 as more than 85 per cent of city’s eligible population stands vaccinated.

District Health officer (DHO) of Islamabad Dr Zaeem Zia in a tweet said 20 people returned positive after 3,855 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

The city’s positivity rate thus stands at 0.5 per cent.

“Make sure anyone who is not vaccinated yet, should get vaccinated. Let’s make Islamabad even safer against COVID-19,” further said Dr Zaeem in his tweet.

About dengue virus too, he said there was clear decline and the health department was expecting it would decline further in the days to come.

279 new dengue cases in Punjab

In Punjab, too, dengue virus is on the decline and according to Primary & Secondary Health Department (PSHD) 279 cases were reported in last 24 hours taking the overall number of infections to 23,576 while 1,378 are under treatment.

The province’s toll due to dengue virus since its outbreak has reached 118, according to the PSHD’s post on social media.
