Dubai: In a heart-wrenching discovery, Pakistani actress Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead on Tuesday in her apartment in Karachi’s Defence areas, following a court-mandated eviction.

Police broke into the flat after receiving no response to repeated knocks, only to find the 32-year-old actress deceased on the floor.

Authorities stated that Ali, who had been living alone in the flat for the past seven years, had not been seen for over two weeks.

Forensic teams were immediately dispatched to the scene to collect evidence, and her body was transported to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem. Police believe the actress had been dead for at least 15 to 20 days, though the exact cause of death remains undetermined pending further investigation, Geo Tv reported.

How the body was found

The discovery came after the flat's owner filed a case for unpaid rent dating back to 2024. Court orders led to the arrival of a bailiff, who, after unsuccessful attempts to reach Ali, called the police to break down the door. Inside, they found the actress's decomposed body. Neighbours confirmed that Ali had kept to herself, rarely interacting with others in the building, and did not own a car.

Foul play

While authorities are not ruling out foul play, they noted that the apartment was locked from the inside, suggesting no immediate signs of external violence. Police are continuing their search for relatives using her phone records.

Humaira Asghar Ali was known for her roles in the popular reality show Tamasha Ghar and the 2015 film Jalaibee. Her death follows a tragic pattern, as just weeks earlier, renowned actress Ayesha Khan was also found dead in her Karachi flat.

As investigations continue, the city mourns the untimely loss of another rising star.
