Islamabad: Police in Lahore are on the lookout for a woman who allegedly threatened a traffic warden and slapped him on the face when he tried to tell her that she had parked her car on the wrong side of a road in a busy market and requested her to move it.

A video clip of the incident, which took place three days ago, has gone viral on social media inviting the wrath of netizens calling for action against the woman.

They also vented their anger saying Pakistan cannot make progress unless the same laws apply to the rich and poor.

In the video, the woman can be seen trying to intimidate the traffic warden by referring to her connections in bureaucracy and threatened to teach him a lesson.

In another video clip she is seen hitting him in the face while people standing nearby plead with her not to get violent. However, she doesn’t listen and keeps holding the traffic warden by the collar, using abusive language.

As these videos went viral, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Capt (R) Syed Hammad Abid ordered the arrest of the woman.

A police team raided her house Wednesday evening, but could not find her there. Her vehicle, however, has been taken away.

According to a statement by the police, the woman had wrongly parked her car on the main road in front of a fast food outlet near the Liberty Market exit, causing a traffic jam and congestion.

The warden asked her not to park the car there but she didn’t listen, and started hurling threats at him.

The police have registered a case against her for allegedly attacking and abusing a warden said the statement.

According to the CTO, the woman asked the warden to talk to someone on the phone and upon his refusal to do so she lost her temper and slapped him and scratched his face with her nails, while he showed patience and forbearance.

This is the second incident of its kind in a period of two months when a woman has tried to intimidate and threaten police by referring to connections with influential persons.

Earlier in May this year, the video of a woman claiming to be “a colonel’s wife” had gone viral. In the video she could be seen threatening and manhandling a police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) when he tried to stop her vehicle at Hazara Motorway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Days after the incident, the “Colonel’s Wife” remained among the top ten trends on social media.

After the Lahore incident, people are asking on Twitter if there is a law for such people. Another netizen wondered if she was the ‘Colonel’s second wife.’
