Karachi: Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) mayor and senator Mustafa Kamal on Monday accused party supremo Altaf Hussain of ordering formation of teams to attack his opponents.

In a press conference Kamal, erstwhile close ally to Hussain before he deserted the party, claimed Hussain, along with his London-based confidant Nadeem Nusrat, ordered the assassination of thousands of people.

He said they would form the assassin teams and later the other teams were tasked to eliminate the executing teams.

“If 20,000 workers of the MQM workers have been killed, half of them would have been killed on the orders of Altaf Hussain and Nadeem Nusrat,” Kamal said.

Kamal claimed Hussain at the weekend had ordered his supporters to form teams to attack those who left the party.

He called upon MQM workers to think over their misdeeds, carried out at the command of the party leaders, and asked them to repent.

Kamal also demanded authorities offer a general amnesty to the MQM’s criminal activists so that they could be allowed to become productive citizens.

The conference was held to announce the inclusion of Mohammad Raza, and Waheeduz Zaman into newly formed Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) led by Kamal.

Zaman was the former chief of All Pakistan Mohajir Student Organisation (APMSO), the student wing of the MQM, whereas Raza was a party veteran.

The PSP leader said a delegation of his party would visit the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) office as part of its political harmony agenda.

Meanwhile, a former legislator of Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) on Monday joined the MQM. Afshan Imran announced she had joined Hussain’s party, accusing Kamal of plotting conspiracy against the party.

She rejected all the accusation against the MQM and its leaders saying the elements who were levelling charges against the party now, benefited much when they were assigned beneficial public offices.
