Dubai: The change we need – this was the verdict on social media in Pakistan after Sindh’s Education Minister enrolled his only daughter in a government school.

Twitter users shared images and videos of Syed Sardar Ali Shah at the Meeran Bai School in Hyderabad, with Pakistani media reporting that he also enrolled his nieces in another pubils school.

@majid_agha reacted to the news tweeting: "This is a historic moment ... Proud of you @SardarShah1 ... He has set a great example, with commitment to improve quality of education in Sindh.”

Earlier this year, Pakistani news website The Express Tribue reported that World Bank funding to public schools would be stopped after unsatisfactory execution of the Sindh Education Sector Reform Project II.

However, tweeps were hopeful that the minister walking the talk would positively impact the educations sector.

@SikanderBalouch added: “Highly appreciated initiative by #Sindh #Education #Minister @SardarAliShah by enrolling his only daughter in Meeran High School, Hyderabad. He did what he said, a precedent set for others to revive the glory of public sector education!”

@mosharrafzaidi called it a remarkable policy gambit, adding: “Politicians making this kind of commitment to quality government schools is an important part of the change we need. Bravo!”
