ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Saturday crossed a significant milestone of administering 100 million doses of vaccine in its continued fight against COVID-19.

The National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan’s nerve centre monitoring the pandemic shared on its official portal that 38.213 million persons have been fully vaccinated, while 100,016587 million have been administered at least one jab of vaccine.

‘We have achieved the landmark of 100 million doses of vaccine. Well done Pakistan,” the NCOC tweet said.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiative Asad Umar, who is also chief of the NCOC, in a tweet welcomed the achievement and said that 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered to 68 million people.

Of those vaccinated, 38.12 million have been fully vaccinated, the minister further announced.

The NCOC data shows 15 persons lost their lives, while 552 new cases of COVID-19 were reported during past 24 hours.

The country’s positivity rate thus remained 1.40 per cent.

On the contrary, Pakistan’s recovery rate shows a major boost (95.9 per cent) and according to the NCOC, 842 persons recovered in the last twenty-four hours.

The gap between the total number of infections (1.267,945 million) and total number of recoveries (1.215,505 million) is squeezing with the passage of every day and is a little more than 50,000, the NCOC statistics further shows.

There are 24,081 active cases of COVID-19 in the country, according to the NCOC official data.

Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi district administration has decided to ban unvaccinated people from entering offices and using transport.

The citizens have been asked to get their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible otherwise they will not be allowed to enter the government offices and use public transport.

The District Health Authority (DHA) of the city has also decided to launch community vaccination campaign to inoculate children over 12 on the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
