Karachi continues to be plagued by power woes
Karachi: Electricity woes of the residents of Karachi continued yesterday.
The city has been suffering from acute power shortage over the last few days. Some parts of the city were left with electricity for more than 24 hours.
"We are currently repairing our Bin Qasim power generating units, and once it is done the situation will improve," said Syed Sultan Hassan, spokesman of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC)
Officials said due to the problems with the Bin Qasim units, the mega city of nearly 16 million people was facing a shortage of at least 500-600 megawatts. The daily power need of the city is 2,200-2,350 mw.
