ISLAMABAD: Pakistan e-commerce sites have started offering ‘Azadi’ deals ahead of Independence Day on August 14, cashing in on the popularity of green and white clothing and accessories worn by customers showing love for their homeland.

White and green balloons, Pakistani flags, badges, apparel matching the colours of the flag and other merchandise make the rounds in markets and on social media platforms to grab attention. Besides the traditional points of sale in local markets, numerous Pakistani brands and retailers are offering their merchandise, including T-shirts, mobile phone covers, dresses and souvenirs on online shopping platforms.

“We Pakistanis celebrate a lot of festivals and events but Independence Day has its own significance because on this day we are blessed with separate identity,” one citizen said.

“Technology has made shopping easy,” said Samra Asghar, who recently placed an online order for a few Azadi T-shirts for his children. He said that through these mediums every citizen can buy anything online, from food to cell phones and even a house. “It is a matter of a few clicks.”

Hamna Sulaiman, 22, said a lot of people wear Independence Day clothes and other accessories, and many online stores in Pakistan provide special discounts and deals for Azadi clothes for the upcoming August 14 occasion. It is very easy to purchase special clothes on this day at quite affordable rates through social media sites, she added.

Student Haris Obaid, 19, said various stores ahead of Azadi day are offering deals on a wide variety of white and green shirts. Online retailers said green and white products with designs related to Independence Day are especially designed for this occasion.

Products of high quality are provided at very reasonable and low prices, said retailer Asim Kami, who added that the products are crafted for customers of any age.

It becomes a matter of ego for youngsters to get clothes of their choice on special occasions like August 14, where everyone wears alluring clothes and matching accessories, said another retailer Kashif Hayyat.

A regular online customer Sundas Bakir said along with women, men are also actively participating to welcome this Azadi day.
