Karachi: The Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in the midst of the political turmoil in Islamabad, flew down to Larkana in Sindh to mark the 43rd death anniversary of his maternal grandfather and country’s first elected Prime Minister, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Earlier, the PPP had decided not to hold the usual mass gathering in Larkana to mark the death anniversary of Bhutto due to Ramadan.

After reaching Sukkur Airport from Islamabad en route to Larkana, the PPP Chairman thanked the large number of the party’s supporters who had gathered to welcome him despite Ramadan after he had revealed on the Twitter his programme to visit Sindh.

He said that an uncertain national situation had compelled him to visit his hometown.

He recalled that the late Bhutto had given the country’s first consensus constitution while he had also laid the foundations of the work to make Pakistan the first country in the Islamic world to have nuclear capability.

Bilawal mentioned that the People’s Party was a democratic party, which had always waged a struggle for the masses only through democratic means.

He said the PPP had successfully waged the struggle against Prime Minister Imran Khan’s “anti-people regime” that had caused unemployment, increased the poverty level, and overburdened the masses by increasing the taxes.

Bilawal said that Imran Khan’s election to the office of the country’s chief executive had harmed Pakistan, as every national institution had been rendered controversial.

The PPP Chairman said that Parliament should be given the opportunity to bring reforms in the electoral process so that there shouldn’t be any controversy attached to the future general elections in the country.

He recalled that the People’s Party had yet to contest any fair polls in the country.
