Eleven days after he was shot in Salford Anuj Bindve's funeral was held at a Pune crematorium
Mumbai: Eleven days after he was shot in the British city of Salford in an apparent hate crime, the body of Pune student Anuj Bidve was brought from Britain via Mamba by his grief-stricken parents last night. Later, Anuj's funeral was held at a Pune crematorium.
Accompanied by Anuj's body, his parents — Subhash and Yogini Bidve — arrived in Mumbai at 11.45am on a British Airways flight from London, where they had gone specially to claim and bring back their son's body to their native city of Pune.
Once in Mumbai, Anuj's distraught parents took the body by road from Mumbai to Pune. Initially, the body was taken to their Chandannagar residence on the Pune-Ahmednagar road.
Last night, Anuj's funeral was held at Pune's Yerwada Muktidam (crematorium). His family members and friends were present. Anuj, a 23-year-old engineering student at Lancaster University, was shot dead on Boxing Day in Salford.
