Hyderabad: Telangana State Board of Intermediate Examination (TSBIE) continues its goof ups even after recounting of marks of the failed students.

In another serious blunder, after recounting process the board first declared a student passed and within hours again failed her. Tragically the girl Anamika was among 26 students who committed suicide after they were declared failed in the first results on April 18.

Faced with the fury of the people and a High Court order, the state government had ordered a recounting of the marks of all the 328,000 students who were declared by the Board in first and second year examinations.

After the re-verification the Board declared that of 328,116 students who had failed 1,137 have in fact passed. One of them was Artula Anamika, daughter of a vegetable seller Dhanush in Kaghaznagar in Asifabad district.

17 year old Anamika who had dream of joining the army after completing her education committed suicide soon after seeing the Intermediate results.

While she had cleared all other subjects, she was declared failed in Telugu.

After the re-verification she was declared passed with 48 marks. However within hours the Board again revised the mark to 21 and pronounced her failed. Attributing it to “clerical error” the Board insisted that their original result was correct and she had failed. Adding to insult to the injury the Board officials also released Anamika’s answer sheet and memorandum of marks into public domain.

Reeling under the double shock the family was now planning a fresh legal action against the Board.

Second of three sisters Anamika was a brilliant student and the family members insist that there was no question that she will fail in her mother tongue.

Anamika’s sister Udaya told the media that her sister had not committed suicide. “She was murdered by the officials of the intermediate Board”, adding that she will take the state government to the court now. “I will fight for justice with my sister, my family and all the students who feel wronged by the Board”, she added.

Udaya revealed that her brave sister had made up her mind to join Indian army after coming out of college and serve the country. “She was very brave and bold, had joined NCC two years ago, she went for test interview ten days before her death. She was selected for a camp in Delhi and her family was informed about it after she ended her life”, Udaya said.
