Bengaluru In one of Bengaluru’s biggest cash heists in recent years, a gang looted Rs 7.11 crore (Rs70.11 million) from a CMS cash-replenishment vehicle in broad daylight on Tuesday, prompting the city police to issue a high alert.

Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh has ordered intensified checks at all exit points and deployed two additional teams, along with DCP-level officers, to track down the suspects.

The robbery occurred near South End Circle as the CMS crew prepared to load cash into an ATM. A group of 7–8 men, arriving in an Innova, posed as RBI officials, intimidated the staff, and overpowered the gunman, according to IANS.

The gang forced the employees out, took the driver towards Dairy Circle, and later stopped the CMS vehicle on the Dairy Circle flyover, where they shifted the cash into their Innova and escaped.

Police said the robbers used a fake number plate — KA 03 NC 8052 — borrowed from a Swift car registered in Kalyan Nagar.

Investigators suspect possible insider involvement as the CMS team allegedly reported the incident late, and questions have been raised about why the armed guards did not react.

All four CMS staff members — the driver, two gunmen, and a cash loader — are being interrogated at Siddapur Police Station. Police believe the gang may have fled towards Hosakote via Domlur, Marathahalli, or Whitefield, and a fingerprint team has examined the crime scene. A citywide manhunt is underway.

“We will arrest the accused at the earliest,” Commissioner Singh said.
