Abu Dhabi: The Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is arriving in the capital on Wednesday on a four-day visit to the UAE to seek partnership of the Indian community in the reconstruction of the flood-hit Kerala.

Vijayan will attend a series of events titled “Together with Kerala” in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.

He will address businessmen in the capital at a dinner meeting organised by the Indian Business and Professional Group (IBPG) on Wednesday evening.

“More than 200 prominent businessmen, including Indians and other nationals, will attend the event,” Dr B.R Shetty, chairman of the IBPG, told Gulf News. The chief minister will present the investment opportunities for businesses in the reconstruction process at the meeting.

On Thursday evening, the chief minister will address a public meeting at the Indian Social and Cultural Centre (ISC) in the capital, Indian community leaders told a press conference at the ISC on Tuesday evening.

Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, will inaugurate the chief minister’s public event at the ISC, said Ramesh Panicker, honorary president of the ISC.

Vijayan will address the Indian community members at the event to be presided over by M.A. Yousuf Ali, chairman of the ISC and Chairman of Lulu Group, he said.

“Around 2,500 are expected to attend the meeting. We have made elaborate arrangements for the success of the programme in coordination with other major community organisations — Kerala Social Centre (KSC), Indian Islamic Centre (IIC) and Abu Dhabi Malayali Samajam (ADMS),” Panicker said.

After the public meeting, Vijayan will interact with the selected representative of various community organisations at the ISC, he said.

Dr Illangovan, principal Secretary of Norka (Non-Resident Keralite Department), who is accompanying the chief minister, will make a presentation about the state’s reconstruction, Panicker said.

The organisers have arranged transportation from labour accommodations on the outskirts of the city to the ISC, said K.B. Murali, member of Loka Kerala Sabha, a global platform of Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs) constituted by the Kerala Government. Those who want the transportation can contact the following mobile numbers 050-5251221, 056-2860653.

A.K. Beeran Kutty, president of the KSC, said chief minister’s visit is an opportunity for the Indian community, especially Keralites, to extend their support for Kerala’s rebuilding. “Hope everyone will come forward and grab this opportunity,” he said.

T.A. Naser, president of ADMS; and P. Bava Haji, president of the IIC; also attended the press conference.

The chief minister will be in Dubai on Friday and will interact with prominent businessmen at an event organised by the Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) in Dubai in the afternoon.

Vijayan will address the Indian community at a public meeting at 8pm at Al Nasr Leisure Land in Dubai.
