KCR announces another gift to farmers on 5th Telangana formation day

Chief minister lists number of initiatives and welfare programs for farmers

Hyderabad: As Telangana celebrated its 5th Formation Day with a lot of excitement and joy, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced one more gift for the farmers of the state. Having fulfilled the earlier promise of waiving farm loans up to Rs100,000, the Chief Minister announced another waiver of farm loan.

“Now again we are going to waive another one lakh rupees loan, the Chief Minister declared while addressing the state formation day celebrations at Public Gardens in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The Chief Minister who earlier laid a wreath at “Telangana Martyrs Memorial” as a mark of respect for those who laid down their lives during six decade long struggle for separate Telangan state, listed out a number of initiatives and welfare programmes to improve the lot of farmers including round the clock free supply of power and promised that the state will never hear the word drought.

He also announced that under the “Rythu Bandhu” scheme the investment support for farmers will be increased from existing Rs8,000 to Rs10,000 per acre from this year. He said that the scheme was a great success in preventing farmers’ distress. “This scheme attracted the attention of the whole world. In addition to the several state governments even to the union government the scheme became a role model”, KCR said adding that Telangana scheme had inspired the PM-Kisan Samman scheme of central government.

On the irrigation sector the Chief Minister said that once the ongoing irrigation projects were completed, “Nobody is going to hear word drought in the state or see it”.

Chief Minister who hosted the national flag and inspector a colourful parade to mark the day when Telangana was formed as 29th state on June 2014, called the achievement of the state, “result of a relentless great movement first of its kind in history of our country”.
