Patna: A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight carrying 175 passengers made an emergency landing at Patna's Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport on Wednesday morning after a bird strike caused a technical snag in one of its engines.

According to a PTI report, flight IGO5009 took off from Patna at 8:42am but reported a bird hit shortly after departure. During a runway inspection, authorities found the remains of a bird, confirming the strike. The information was relayed to the aircraft via the Approach Control Unit.

Following the bird strike, the flight crew reported vibrations in one of the engines and requested to return to Patna. Emergency protocols were activated, and the flight landed safely at 9:03am on Runway 7.

“All 175 passengers on board are safe,” said a statement issued by Patna airport. “Local stand-by was declared, and the aircraft landed without further incident.”

The aircraft is now undergoing a detailed inspection to assess the extent of the damage. IndiGo officials have confirmed that alternate travel arrangements are being made for the affected passengers to ensure they reach their destination.
