A car owned by popular Marathi actress Urmila Kothare ran over two laborers near Mumbai's Kandivali, leaving one dead and the other seriously injured, according to media reports.

The accident reportedly occurred near Poinsar Metro station as Kothare was returning from a film shoot. Media sources suggest the car’s driver lost control, hitting the two Metro workers. One worker died on the spot, while the other was hospitalized and is undergoing treatment.

Police have stated that the car was speeding at the time of the accident. They noted that the airbags deployed in time, which likely saved Kothare from serious injuries. Kothare sustained minor injuries, while the driver was severely hurt.

A case has been registered against the driver, and an investigation is underway.

Urmila Kothare, also known as Urmila Kanetkar, is a prominent figure in the Marathi film industry, known for her roles in films like Duniyadari, Shubhmangal Saavdhan, and Ti Sadhya Kay Karte. She recently made a television comeback after a 12-year hiatus with the hit show Tujech Mi Geet Gaat Ahe.
