Dubai: Her husband accused her of having an extra-marital affair. Angered, the wife poured acid on him, after tying up his legs and hands. Twitter users in India are sharing the “shocking” news reports of the incident that took place in the Indian state of Bihar’s Katihar district, on August 8.

Reportedly, police have said that the woman, Bharti Devi, has been arrested along with her sister and brother-in-law who assisted her in the gruesome act.

The couple stayed together in Surajpur, in Katihar.

According to Indian news reports, recently, the husband Sanjay Kumar Mandal suspected his wife of having an extra-marital relationship, and had accused her of infidelity.

On August 8, Sanjay and his wife had a verbal altercation on the issue which turned into fisticuffs.

The wife called her sister and brother-in-law. Together, the trio thrashed Sanjay after tying him. Later, in a fit of rage, Sanjay’s wife reportedly poured acid on him.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical state.

On August 9, the doctors advised him to be shifted to another hospital, where he is presently recovering. The locals informed the police who rushed to the place of incident and apprehended the accused.

According to news reports, sub-divisional police officer of Katihar, Amarkant Jha, said: “We have arrested Bharti Devi, her sister Aarti Mandal and brother-in-law Gopal Mandal after getting a complaint from the victim, Sanjay Mandal.”
