Hyderabad: Hyderabad city police have arrested two sorcerers for allegedly raping a housewife at the behest of her husband and in-laws. They were among the eight sorcerers who had raped the woman at her home, police said.
The shocking incident, which had occurred last year, came to light after the victim’s father returned to the city from Oman and lodged a complaint at the Falaknuma police station in the city. The police have arrested Musa Bavazir and Shaikh Mohsin while six other offenders, husband and in-laws of the victim were absconding.
Police inspector K Srinivas Rao said that a case was booked under various sections of Indian Penal code as well as the Drugs and Magi Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement) Act.
Victim told the police that her husband and in-laws said that they had taken the help of the sorcerers to find a treasure trove and she should not object to whatever they do to her.
The ordeal of the 20-year-old housewife started in December 2018 when Musa Bavazir and his accomplices were brought home by her husband. While Musa allegedly raped her, her husband videographed it and the video was used to blackmail her to continue sexual assaults on her by others. “They told me that if I do not cooperate with them they will post my video on social media and tarnish the name of my family,” the lady told the police.
She fled the home of her in-laws when she heard in-laws and sorcerers planning to sacrifice her son to recover the treasure trove. Though she told her mother about the sordid happenings, the two terrified women did not approach the police. Only after the victim’s father returned from Oman did they take up the matter. When he confronted his son in-law, he said that it was all done to treat the woman as she was possessed by evil spirits.
