Patna: The ruling Grand Alliance government headed by chief minister Nitish Kumar has landed in fresh trouble with the country’s premier investigating agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), now registering a case of financial fraud against the kin of minister Chandrika Rai.

Rai who happens to be the transport minister in the Nitish Kumar government is considered very close to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad who himself is facing charges of financial irregularities.

Authorities said the CBI has registered a case of financial fraud against the brother and other relatives of the transport minister.

In the case registered with the CBI, the minister’s brother Vidhanchand Rai and his wife Kavita Rai have been charged with causing financial irregularities worth over Rs430 million in connivance with the bank officials. Rai is son of former Bihar chief minister late Daroga Prasad Rai.

The minister, however, brushed aside all such controversies saying he had nothing to do with his brother. “I have no information about the CBI case.
