Dubai: A family of four — a doctor, his wife, and their two sons — was found dead at their residence in Anna Nagar, in Chennai, this morning. Police suspect the deaths were a result of suicide due to financial distress, as reported by NDTV.

Dr Balamurugan, 52, a sonologist, his wife Sumathy, 47, an advocate, and their sons — NEET aspirant Jaswant Kumar and Class 11 student Lingesh Kumar — were discovered hanging in two separate rooms.

According to preliminary investigations, Dr Balamurugan, who owned multiple ultrasound centres in the city, was struggling with heavy debt.

The incident came to light when the doctor's driver arrived at the house and grew suspicious after receiving no response. He alerted the police, who later discovered the bodies of Balamurugan, Sumathy and their sons.

“We suspect they died by suicide due to financial difficulties. The investigation is ongoing, and no formal complaints have been received so far,” a police officer told NDTV.

It remains unclear whether the family left a suicide note or if they were under pressure from money lenders. The authorities are continuing their probe into the matter.
