Person filming the video accused restaurant of discriminating against customers
A video circulating on social media shows a couple alleging they were denied entry to a restaurant in Delhi’s Pitampura for wearing Indian attire. In the now-viral clip, the couple recounts their experience, claiming the manager misbehaved with them while other patrons were allowed inside.
The person filming the video accused the restaurant of discriminating against customers in Indian dress and demanded its immediate closure.
Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra said he had informed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who took serious note of the matter.
“This is unacceptable in Delhi. CM @gupta_rekhaji has taken serious note of the incident. Officials have been directed to investigate and take immediate action,” Mishra posted on social media.
Later, Mishra announced that the restaurant had agreed to remove any restrictions on attire and would welcome guests in Indian clothing. He added that on Rakshabandhan, sisters wearing Indian attire would be offered special discounts.
However, restaurant owner Neeraj Aggarwal denied the allegations, saying the couple was refused entry only because they had not booked a table. He insisted the restaurant has no dress code and welcomes all customers.
